This page is intended to log all regular maintenance and repair for the Stoll Knitting machine at IDE Lab. The Stoll knitting machine was installed January 2020
15-11-2021 the 'backup battery error' became very frequent. the 4x battery cells have been replaced by new ones
08-01-2021 -Replaced ~10 needles, which broke due to too low stitch length when making full jersey fabric. should be around 12, instead of default setting for DB (9.5)
- installed intarsia yarn feeders. One has gone defect and should be repared
04-12-2020 machine indicates that needle-bed needs to be oiled oiled the needle-bed can't reset the oil counter, will ask supplier
27-11-2020 both comb-motor belts have been replaced by supplier
06-11-2020: error comb connot be taken down anymore. Inspection reveals that both the comb-motor belts have been completely worn down and are on pint of breaking. Asked our Stoll supplier to replace them
11-08-2020: Knitting machine hasnt been used several weeks (due to holidays), and now machine gives an backup battery error Rebooted
02-06-2020:
Frequent 'Comb barrier light error'. Cleaning doesnt help. eventually rebooting was the only remedy. Contacted Stoll (Jancsi), who advised to clean, and also indicated that the sensor can be temporarily deactivated in the COMB Menu
3 Broken or bent needles, replaced 3 broken 'needle selectors' (?) the metal pieces 3th section from top. one of the sticking out parts were broken off 3 broken needle 'ingager' (?), the metal pieces 4th section from top/bottom. one of the sticking out parts were broken off
Seems to be a lot of dust/fluff inside the needle bed
19-05-2020:
- oiled the needle bed
- oiled the carriage travel beams (on top) note: there is quite some black residue (? not sure if its oily yarns dust) on the carriage travel beams. Should be removed next time

12-05-2020: air ventilation was added to at back of knitting machine, to prevent the smell of the oil from going into the lab
February 2020: oiled the needle bed
January 2020: Stoll knitting machine installed at IDE Labs
